Overview
One of the best selling nameplates, the Nissan Altima now features a refined exterior and interior with advanced navigation system for 2010. It is available in three distinct models - Altima Sedan, Altima Coupe (Both in S and SR trims) and Altima Hybrid.
Power and performance
The Altima engines include a 175-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder and 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine-equipped 4-door Altima Sedan and sporty 2-door Altima Coupe versions. Six-speed manual transmission is standard on the 2.5 S and 3.5 SR trims, while Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with manual mode is standard on 2.5 and 3.5 SR trim levels.
Body and styling
All 2010 Altimas come with a restyled hood, grille and front bumper and new wheel designs. Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is now standard on all models. Revised interior fabric and finishers, new exterior colors and revised option package content make it more appealing. The previous Altima 3.5 SE designation has now been renamed the 3.5 SR.
The new available premium audio packages include a Bose AM/FM audio system with nine speakers, 4.3-inch color display, USB port with iPod connectivity, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, MP3/WMA CD-ROM playback, XM Satellite Radio (XM subscription required, sold separately) and RearView Monitor.
A next-generation Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System with 6.5-inch VGA color touch-screen display (replaces the 4.3-inch display), 9.3GB Music Box for music storage and playback, advanced map data including speed limit advisories, Zagat restaurant guide, XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather (XM subscription required, sold separately), Bluetooth Streaming Audio, DVD player and an RCA input for auxiliary audio/video connectivity is available. The 2010 Nissan Altima accommodates five passengers and provides 15.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

The lengthy list of advanced safety features available on the 2010 Nissan Altima includes 3-point seat belt system; dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat-belt and occupant-classification sensors; roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags for front and rear-seat outboard occupants; seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags for driver and front-passenger; front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters; front seat active head restraints; tire pressure monitoring system; energy-absorbing steering column; lower anchors and tethers for children; pipe-style steel side-door guard beams; vehicle immobilizer system; and hood buckling creases and safety stops.
